Dear Parishioners and Friends,

As Pete and I were taking our seats on our flight to San Juan, my phone rang. It was Jennifer, so of course I picked up. "I have the Bishop's assistant on the line. He wants to come on the ninth. Is that ok?" Uh, sure. What did I just agree to?

After we landed, I emailed, and the Bishop said he had an unexpected opening in his schedule, and he just wanted to be with us at St. Mary's. A while ago at a deans' meeting, I mentioned that we hadn't seen the Ordinary at St. Mary's in over a decade. Bishop Matt was listening, and so he is coming this Sunday, March 9.

I am very proud of St. Mary's and all of the good work we have done and continue to do together, and the Bishop knows that. He also knows that we are growing! So, let's show Bishop Matt how much we all love our church by filling the pews this Sunday. Please make every effort to be here, and to spread the word. See you in church!

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday

Please join us March 5th for Ash Wednesday services at 10am and 7pm (with music).

“Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent..." With these words we will begin the liturgy of Ash Wednesday and the penitential season of Lent. We acknowledge our sinfulness powerfully in the Litany of Penitence, as well as our mortality with the imposition of ashes, which remind us that we are "but dust." We repent of our pride, hypocrisy, inordinate love of worldly goods, and the evil done by us and on our behalf.

Daylight Saving Time Begins this Sunday

Lenten Learning Series

From March 12th to April 9th, we will meet each Wednesday at 6pm in the Rectory for a book group and pot luck dinner. Several of you have expressed an interest in reading Bishop Budde’s latest book, so we will be reading and discussing How We Learn To Be Brave. Please purchase your copy wherever books are sold and join us.

Sunday School

The formation of children is a critical part of our mission. Service in church helps them learn about responsibility, charity, and self-sacrifice. Children are welcome to participate in our programs and/or attend church services with their parents. Under age 5, there is a a fun childcare program. Children ages 5 to 12 are welcome to attend Sunday School. Those 10 and older are encouraged to participate in the service as acolytes or readers.
