Dear Friends,

This weekend we will observe Trinity Sunday, the only feast day of the Church that is dedicated to a doctrine as opposed to a person or event in salvation history. It is also widely considered the end of the church's program year, as it offers a clean stopping point, and roughly coincides with the end of the academic year.

Trinity Sunday will be the final day that we hear the full Schola Cantorum until the fall. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our organist and choir master, Sheldon F. Eldridge, Jr. for all of his dedication and hard work throughout the year. For those whose only experience of our music on Sundays, the amount of thoughtful planning and work that goes into a program as excellent as ours is not immediately evident, but let me assure you, it is there. I am often struck by just how seamlessly the music, especially the hymnody, meshes with my sermons. I would also like to thank the individual members of the Schola: Aileen, Johanna, Tony, and Michael for their gifts and for the work they do to lift our hearts heavenward.

During the summer months, we will still enjoy music. One vocal leader will be accompanied by the organ each week. Dr. Kopp will be filling in for Sheldon during his summer vacation, and we will return to the beloved Schubert communion setting.
