From the Rector

Dear Friends,

We are once again off to the races as another exciting program year commences. I hope that you all will be able to join us this Sunday as we give thanks for the restoration work done over the past several years, and re-dedicate the steeple, stairs, and stonework that will stand at least another 130 years. Our special guest will be the Rev. Canon Alissa Newton, the Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of New York. [The Canon to the Ordinary is essentially the Bishop's Chief of Staff].

We will begin outside the church at 10:00 a.m. with a brief liturgy of rededication. Please join me in praying that the forecasted rain holds off! In case of inclement weather, we will move indoors.

The restoration process is forever ongoing with a historic campus like ours, but this particular part has been in process since 2023! Often in ministry, the fruits of our labors take years to realize, and even then they often cannot be seen or quantified. Therefore it is very satisfying to be able to put a bow on this project and offer it to our community. Please join us, rain or shine!

In Memoriam

We pray for the repose of the soul of Archibald Gwathmey, whose memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo on Saturday, September 26th, at 11am. The full obituary may be found here.

Diocesan Regional Meeting

On Saturday, September 26, there will be a regional gathering of the Mid-Hudson churches at St. John's in Cornwall from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.

The goal is to get back on track with the by-laws of the Mid-Hudson Regional Council and to restart the Regional Assembly and Executive Committee, all of which languished after the pandemic and due to a key retirement a few years ago. Our diocese now has regional canons, and their role in Mid-Hudson will also be discussed.

Blooming Hill Farm is excited to offer Tuxedo community support agriculture for the fall and holiday season of 2026, and St. Mary’s church has graciously offered to act as the pick up location.
