From the Rector

Dear Friends,

If you have been around the church lately, you will notice that there is a great deal of activity occurring at the moment. Last Saturday, we had a very successful cleanout of the church ahead of bulk pickup. Thanks to all hands who made the work somewhat lighter. People (and bears) have been perusing our junk pile, and a few items have been reused, though there is quite a mess behind the dumpster.

Decker Tree Service is busy removing dangerous dead trees. We had to prioritize, as there are not funds to do them all, though we know it will need to happen at some point. Our landscaper, Dave MacKenzie has shown that his firm does much more than just mow and pick up leaves. Early this week his team did a beautiful job reconstructing a portion of our stone wall along Route 17. Later he will also be repairing the drainage on French House, a problem that has been nagging for years. We are also having the gutter seams sealed and leaf guards added.

At the rectory, ice damage from last winter's brutal weather has been remediated with a thorough wash of the exterior surfaces and the windows. Work continues on replacing rotted trim boards around windows and skirting.

Back at the church, I am very pleased to report that the long-awaited steeple restoration will commence some time next month. I am passionate about the stewardship of this place and in handing it over to the next generation in better shape than we found it. I am also so grateful to the many generous people in our community, both church members and friends, who help make this vital work possible.
